Copper Country Associated Artists
Minutes of the 6/17/10 meeting

President Sharon Abramson called the meeting to order at 10am. The minutes were approved as read. Ginny Douglas read the treasurer’s report. It was approved as read.

Committee Reports:

Nancy McCabe gave the 1st Friday report. The events coming up are paper making, henna painting, textures in watercolor and possibly flint knapping. She also made a strong presentation about being open more hours in the summer. This precipitated a long and necessary discussion about the basic purpose of the CCAA. The membership seemed to conclude that supporting each other and learning were more important than sales. Bob Dawson made a motion to expand our summer hours to be open Wednesday thru Saturday. Ellie Dahlstrom seconded. The motion carried. Nancy suggested that we take turns, perhaps monthly, being clerk (volunteer) coordinator for the gallery. Sharon will do this for the month of July. It was suggested that we have a class on clerking on Thursdays. Dolly Luoma suggested that we should make up a list of likely workers.

Ginny reported that no one has signed up to use the Curves window yet.

Lindy Dahlstrom reported that we should invent things to get our name out. Please supply text and photos.

Clyde Mikkola announced that the Blick order is about to go in. he suggested stockpiling frequently used items.

Business:

Miriam Pickens asked if the CCAA would like to donate to the Relay for Life event. Questions concerning having a yearly giving goal, giving gallery gift certificates or artwork will be taken up by the board of directors. For now Miriam motioned to donate $20.00. Ginny seconded and the motion carried.

Carol from Keweenaw Krayons made a presentation to the membership about our two organizations merging. After they host a community meeting, they should be able to provide us with more information about a succession plan. Linda Dodge thought this topic should go to our board of directors. The board meets on the 30th.

Linda reported that the rent for having our dinner at the Eagle River Community Center would be $25.00. Ellie motioned to have it on Sunday, July 11th. Bob seconded and the motion carried. There will be a sign up sheet for food.

There is a sign up sheet for the Art Fair.

In July, Edith and Bill Wiard will be having a show at the Vertin Gallery and Fredi Tadeucci is having a show at the Ed Gray Gallery. In August, Clyde will be having a show at the CCCAC gallery in Hancock.

Sharon will be posting a gallery needs list in back. We need goodie trays.

Robert Sturos has fixed the toilet (yay!).

Sharon adjourned the meeting at 11:30 am.
